Finding What You Want with NLP

How can you achieve success if you don't really know what you want? So many of us are unsatisfied with our lives, and don't know how to change. We don't know what we want out of life, but we know we don't want what we've got! Does this sound like you? How can we find out what we want in life?

NLP, which stands for Neuro-Linguistic Programming can not only help you with attaining what you want, but it can help you define what you want to get out of life. The process starts by evaluating what you've got in your life, good and bad, and what you want to get rid of in your life. Almost everyone can make a list of things that they don't want in their life. Are some of these familiar?

  • A job you don't enjoy.
  • Unwanted habits that cause you health or emotional problems.
  • No time to spend time doing things that you want.
  • A disappointing relationship.
  • A belief about yourself that limits your life and doesn't serve you.

Take a few minutes to write down what you no longer want to have in your life. Don't focus on them too heavily and get down on yourself. Just make note of them, and then move on. Knowing what they are is enough for now.

The next step is to evaluate and identify anything that is part of your life that you want to keep and continue. There are a lot of good things in life. Think about what makes you happiest right now and write it down.

Finally, identify what you would like to include in your life. You can get as specific or as general as you like. Think about the feeling you would like to achieve with accomplishments in your life. You'll get a handle on what you really want. Once you know that, you can begin to work towards those goals with NLP.
