If
you're a student of mindful success, NLP, hypnosis or any other
success techniques than you know that understanding the power of
your mind is important. There are specific behaviors and attitudes
that we develop over the years that shape our lives. Instead of
letting our circumstances shape how we think about and operate in
the world, we take control. We take the reins of our mind
and program the beliefs and attitudes that will help us achieve
our desires.
This
philosophy is simple and has been repeated in a lot of success literature. But
what does it really mean? At the core of all of our behavior is a thought or
belief about what we should or should not be doing.
Think about something
that you do instinctually, like folding the towels a certain way. This seems like
a simple example. But think for a moment about how you fold towels. Folding laundry
is usually a very simple task that most of us do without thinking too heavily.
Our parents may have taught us how to "properly" fold towels, or we
may have learned by observing. Some people fold towels in half, some in thirds,
but we all do it automatically and without much conscious thought.
We
have been "programmed" how to fold towels. There is so much more in
life that has been programmed in this way through outright direction or observation.
From the way we approach challenges to how we handle rejection. These feelings
and behaviors are automatic results of our mental programming.
The
first part of success is understanding that everything in our life has been
programmed in our lives. There are a lot of parts of our lives that are run
automatically, parts that are much more important than laundry folding. It's important
to recognize that they have been instilled in us, and are not part of our true
nature.
Since
the turn of last century, writers and philosophers have recognized this as the
nature of our minds. The first step to mastering mindpower is understanding that
if we are programmed, then we can be un-programmed.
