When
I think of all the people who claim to have been cured of cancer and other life
threatening diseases through sheer will power and positive thinking it truly warms
my heart. That is the power of optimism at its absolute best.
By
learning how to bend, shape, and focus your optimism you are guaranteeing
your opportunities for success. Optimism is more than a belief however.
It becomes an extension of who you are and affects everything
about you from how you think to how you present yourself
to the rest of the world.
True
optimists choose to focus on the positive aspect of life rather than
dwelling on the negative, he or she will not complain as it is really pointless
to complain about things one cannot change. They will push limits both mentally
and physically in the expectation of expanding their horizons. They will also
see the world as filled with possibilities rather than feeling limited or constrained
by the world.
Optimism
has been linked to success in various studies throughout the years. From sports,
to sales, to political elections, optimistic people tend to fare better statistically
than pessimists. Optimists are also more likely to invest in themselves for
self-improvement, growth experiences, and taking the time to get to know themselves.
They don't really see themselves as static being but as evolving beings.
In
addition to all of this, optimists often display a drive for improvement,
a need to expand limits and learn new things. They are not worried about how others
see them but more about how they see themselves. Their behavior is very much like
that of a self-actualized person. An optimist has no need for affirmations from
others; they supply their own affirmations and are constantly changing and finding
new affirmations. A true optimist is successful without really even needing
to define success!
